Please note we now have a training schedule below.
Junior & Youth Section
The junior section of the Meynell Valley Hunters Triathlon Club caters for athletes of all abilities from ages 8 to 18. Regular junior coaching sessions in swimming, running and cycling are available. The focus of the Junior section is to primarily develop participation in triathlon providing children with their first taste of triathlon and also to help talented athletes progress to higher levels. A range of competitions are available within the West Midlands for all juniors to participate in.
Competitions are split by age group as follows and the maximum distances that each age group can compete at are closely controlled.
The ages for each category are taken as of the 31st December.

No special equipment is required, particularly in the Tristar categories. Athletes are not usually able to compete in events held in open water or on public roads until they are in the Youth category so events are mainly held in swimming pools and usually use school grounds for the cycling and running. This means that mountain bikes are particularly suitable. Note - 2008 will be the first year that any Tristar catagory will be able to race in open water.
Meynell Valley Hunters Triathlon club is commited to providing a safe, secure and enjoyable environment in which junior members can come and experience the sport of triathlon. To that end we ask all parents and juniors to take the time to read the guidlines for young athletes and the parents/carers code of conduct before completing the junior membership form.
MVH members are often photographed during and after races and like to see these published on the website. For more information or to request the club not to publish images of your child, please contact Chair of the club direct (or declare your decision on the membership form).
