MVH Club Trophies

Club Championship Target Races

It is intended that there will be a member of the committee in attendance at most of the following races for the support of each of the club triathletes.  It is also intended that the club will try to organise the travel to the races together, however if this cannot happen then the club will arrange to meet everyone on site (each meeting point to be arranged before travel).  At each race we will have a gazebo for shelter, some refreshments and a comforting ear!

Club Target Races 2010

Only these races count towards the MVH championship

Championship races in ‘Blue’ are additional distance trophies and club titles to be won but the races also count towards the main championship.

Club Championship Rules

The Meynell Valley Hunters Tri Club Championship determines the awards for:

Senior Male & Female Champion, runner-up and third.

Senior Male & Female Champion Novice, runner-up and third.

Veteran Champion Male & Female (Over 50+ age category only).

Male & Female Junior Champion, runner-up and third.

The races in the series for the coming season can be seen below.  You have to race at least three of these races to score.

A few basic rules:

  • You must race at least three of these races to get a score. If you race more than three races, then your best three will count;
  • In the Senior and Veteran Championships - Where a sprint race exists (eg. Redditch, London, Derby) we will count it, but you can't have all three races as sprints - maximum is two. At least one of your races must be Olympic distance or longer;
  • Super Sprint races only count in the Novice Championship.  Novices must complete 3 races but one of them must be a sprint distance.  Novices do not have to complete an Olympic distance race.  Super sprint races will only count in the Novice Championship, but will not count in the Senior or Veteran Championship.
  • You must enter the race with "Meynell Valley Hunters Triathlon Club" or "MVH Tri Club" as your Club name;
  • You should try to race in Meynell Valley Hunters Tri Club race kit where possible (however this is not essential).
  • If all members should compete in less than three races then either the member who has completed the most target races (up to three races) will win by default or if two or more members complete in less than three races but tie with the amount of races completed then the best results from the tied amount of races will count (i.e. if members only complete one race then the best time from that race shall count, and so on up to three races).   If no members complete an Olympic race or longer then the results from the races that have been completed will count, however if only one member completes an Olympic race or longer then that person shall win by default and the remaining trophy (runner up) will be decided on the remaining results from the other club members.
  • The same rules above apply to the novice and veteran championship, however to qualify for the Novice trophy you must prove that you have less than two full seasons experience in the sport of triathlon.  The season starts from the first club championship race and the season finishes after the last club championship race.   Club membership or BTF membership cards can be used as proof of experience.  Only the integrity of club members will ensure that the novice trophy is presented to the most worthy person.
  • If any member who is entered into the novice championship is good enough to win any trophy in the senior championship (final table only), then they will forfeit the novice championship trophy and will only qualify for the senior trophy.  However if the member has won the novice championship and placed in the senior championship also, then in this case the Novice trophy title prevails.  In both cases the forfeited trophy will pass down to the next member within the final table of results.
  • Any member who wins the novice championship or a novice trophy will be allowed to enter the novice championship the following year.
  • The veteran championship only applies to members or novice members who are 50+ years old within that championship year.
  • If any member who is entered into the veteran championship is good enough to win any trophy in the senior championship (final table only), then they will forfeit the veteran championship trophy and will only qualify for the senior trophy.  However if the member has also won the veteran championship and either won or placed in the senior championship also, then in this case the senior trophy title prevails only if that veteran has won the senior championship.  If the member has only placed in the senior championship then the veteran trophy prevails.  In any case the forfeited trophy will pass down to the next member within the final table of results.
  • The long distance ¡®Ironman type¡¯ and the middle ¡®Half Ironman¡¯ races will be handicapped by a maximum of 10% and 5% respectively.  This is to promote participation within the longer races.

The point scoring is based on your time as a percentage of the winning time in your age group/race category. Where an age group has been split down into waves (eg. in London), it will be your time against the faster time overall in your race catagory. Where age groups have been lumped together (as happens with a number of women's races), it will be your time against the winning time for your BT age category unless these are not given in which case it will be the wave/race category.

Results for these races can be found 'here'.
