Junior Club Championship Target Races

It is intended that there will be a member of the committee in attendance at most of the races for the support of each of the club junior triathletes.  It is also intended that the club will try to organise the travel to the races together, however if this cannot happen then the club will arrange to meet everyone on site (each meeting point to be arranged before travel).

Junior Club Championship Rules

The Meynell Valley Hunters Tri Club Junior Championship determines the awards for:

Junior Male & Female Champion, runner-up and third.

The races in the series for the coming season can be seen below.  You have to race at least two of these races to score.

All junior members who compete in at least two races will recieve a championship participation medal.

The trophies and medals will be presented at a presentation evening and party, sometime after the end of the MVH season.

A few basic rules:

  • Only MVH members aged 8-16 can qualify for these trophies.
  • You must race at least two of these races to get a score. If you race more than two races, then your best two will count;
  • One of the races must be a Triathlon.
  • You must enter the race with "Meynell Valley Hunters Triathlon Club" or "MVH Tri Club" as your Club name;
  • You should try to race in Meynell Valley Hunters Tri Club race kit where possible (however this is not essential).
  • If all members should compete in less than two races then either the member who has completed the most target races (up to two races) will win by default or if two or more members complete in less than two races but tie with the amount of races completed then the best results from the tied amount of races will count (i.e. if members only complete one race then the best time from that race shall count, and so on up to two races).
  • Where 15 & 16 Year olds cannot enter the Junior races below.  If the organisors allow it, they can enter the equivelant adult race and the score will count towards the Junior Championship.  The scores will be calculated against there age-group catagory in the adult race.  i.e. Any Junior whow is not accepted for the Junior Races at the Burntwood Aquathlons must enter the adult race (if the organisors allow it) and their scores will count towards the Junior Championship.  Same applies for the Barton Marina Race (Juniors must enter the sprint race, not the Olympic).

The point scoring is not based on a ‘first past the post’ scenario but based on the finishing times as a percentage of the winning time in the age group/race category that each child is in. Where an age group has been split down into waves, it will be your time against the faster time overall in your race category. Where age groups have been lumped together (as happens with a number of junior races), it will be your time against the winning time for your BT age category unless these are not given in which case it will be the wave/race category.
